I recently discovered a new place in Zurich. It’s very close to my home, merely 20 minutes by bus, and even closer by car (which I hope I can use soon), so I think this spot will be the subject of more future posts. The place is Türlersee, a little lake in Canton Zurich, at the western side of Albis, Zurich’s chain of hills.

I like Türlersee. It doesn’t have huge mountains around, but it’s surrounded by forest on one side, and the green slopes of Albis and farms and cute houses on the other side. Its waters are dark, clean and calm, with a lot of wildlife… and it is a protected natural reserve for its dry meadows and moors. I’ve heard that it gets a bit crowded during summer (there is a camping site at one of the shores, a restaurant and swimming areas), but in winter it is a very peaceful place for a walk. And I haven’t confirm it yet, but it looks like a beautiful place to watch the sunset on clear days!

Well, here are some photos I took during my two visits to the lake. Some are from an evening in late January and the others are from the beginning of March, just after that week of extreme low temperatures I mentioned in my previous post. Now I just want to go back on a warm and clear spring day at sunset, with some beautiful colored clouds…
