Summer is coming. After a very short spring, the weather has finally improved a bit and the temperatures have risen suddenly in the last days. People has started to wear lighter clothes, the terraces and parks are full of people enjoying the sun… And the tall ships are coming again to visit the city! Last summer, the Mexican ARM Cuahtémoc and the German Gorch Fock came to Dublin. This past weekend was the turn of the American training ship USCGC Eagle.
The USCGC Eagle was originally built as the German training ship Horst Wessel in 1936. She served training German sailors until the end of the World War II. After the war, she was taken by the US as war reparations and has been used to train the US Coast Guards cadets since then.
The Eagle has stayed in Dublin only for the weekend, but this was enough time to explore its interior and enjoy the views of the ship docked in the river Liffey. And it’s been a wonderful oportunity to photograph again my favourite part of Dublin, the Docklands. I hope you like the result!
