I’ve been waiting for this hike for almost a year! When I arrived to Zurich a year ago, I was a bit sad for missing the cherry blossoms in Herbert Park in Dublin. I didn’t know my new city very well and, of course, I didn’t know where these beauties were in the city or when they would bloom… Fortunately, social networks have still a few good uses for me. I can’t tell how many beautiful places I have discovered in Switzerland through Instagram!! Well, that means that someone has been there before… But it’s also a nice way to discover some hidden gems that don’t appear on travel guides 🙂
Last year I discovered in one of those photography apps a green meadow full of white cherry blossoms…. I had to do a bit more of research to find out that that meadow wasn’t very far from Zurich. The cherry region of Switzerland is located in our neighboring canton, Zug!! A mere half an hour away from Zurich!! After that, I discovered a few more interesting things, like that there is a forecast for the blooming season of the cherry trees of Canton Zug… And there’s even a hotline to which you can call to know if the flowers are already open!! Incredible, isn’t it??
With all that information, I waited for the right time to plan the hike in the cherry region of Switzerland. Unfortunately, all the predictions indicated that I was going to miss it (I was in Spain during the peak days!!). The weather has been awesome in Switzerland since we burnt the Böögg last Monday… Like summer!! I was afraid I was going to have to wait another year…
So I went there last Saturday… And luckily, the flowers were still there!! I made an easy but long hike along the lake of Zug. 20 km walking through a green forest, beautiful meadows full of yellow flowers and a see of white cherry trees… What a dream!!
Here are some photos I took this weekend. I hope you like them!

Wow… Absolutely amazing. I wish I could go here for a walk now. Thanks for sharing them. 🙂
Thanks a million!!! It was a pretty walk, indeed!!! And the day was amazing, almost 30ºC here in Switzerland!! After the long winter, looks like summer is almost here! ehehhe
have a great week! 🙂
Wow Switzerland 🇨🇭… it’s def on my must travel to list 😊
If you visit it, you won’t regret it!!! There are impressive views everywhere, in the middlelands and the Alps!! 🙂
beautiful sceneries!
Thanks a million!! It’s quite a sight, specially after all the snow we had this long winter! 🙂
Looks like you had a great day, and shot some beautiful images. Here we have almond trees and blossoms. I loved the closeup of the cherry blossom.
Thanks a mil, Anne!!! It was an impressive day!! More a summer day than any other thing, with temperatures of almost 30ºC!!! Even a bit hot for a hike, but the views were so beautiful that I forgot about the heat! hehehe. Next year I’ll try to go a bit earlier and get some more close ups! The flowers were almost gone this time…
I love almond trees too!! There are a lot in Madrid and it always cheered me up when I saw the flowers on my way to work… those pink beauties will always be one of my favorite memories from Spain 🙂
So beautiful! That 2nd photo looks like it could be from a fairytale! Also love the closeup just before the 1st cow photo. (Cows are so cool!) 😁
Thanks a million!!! It’s not the typical Swiss hike, but for me it has been as beautiful as one in the highest Swiss mountain.. I love cherry blossoms!! hehehe
I took almost all the photos with my new lens, but I took too the telephoto for some close ups! It’s not like macro, but I like how close I can get with the long lens 🙂 (and it’s a pity you can’t appreciate the details from the other two close ups…. I was really impressed when I edited those two!! I think I’m in love with my new lens, hahaha)
The other closeups are beautiful too! There’s so much beauty in this post that it’s a bit blinding! 😆
Hahahaha Thanks a million for the compliment 😉
