One of my best friends visited me a few weeks ago. After a few days showing her Zurich and its surroundings, we decided to go for a little adventure. Because she likes sport and she is a great photographer, I though she would love to go to the Alps and see some of the magnificent Swiss landscapes. So I took her to Grindelwald.
Grindelwald is a Swiss village located in a glacier valley in the Bernese Alps (it’s not far from another glacier valley I already showed you, Lauterbrunnen). Due to its impressive alpine landscapes, it’s a popular destination to practice sports during the whole year. We chose the hike trail of Bachalpsee-Faulhorn, a 20km route with an ascension of 1669m from the village. It was one of the most demanding hikes I’ve ever made! It took us almost 10 hours to complete the hike, making a wonderful stop at the Berggasthaus Waldspitz to have a typical Swiss lunch before heading up to the lakes and continuing with the rest of the hike. We ended up walking the last kilometres in the darkness and arriving to Grindelwald with time to have dinner before getting back to Zurich. It was a long and tiring hike day, but also very rewarding! I think we all felt very proud of ourselves for completing it 🙂
Here are some of the photos I took that day. It was really beautiful to see autumnal and winter landscapes meeting in the same day.
Have a wonderful week!
This post is dedicated to Maii, one of the most talented, inspiring, and strongest women I know. I’m the luckiest person for having you in my life and I’m so proud of calling you my friend! I love you!! 🙂
