One of the reasons I fell in love with Stockholm when I was living there was its seasons. I was used to the dry, warm and sunny Spanish weather and every change in Stockholm was like a new surprise for me: the impressive colorful autumn, the stillness and pure whiteness of winter, the explosion of life and color everywhere in spring, the long, green and warm days of summer in the archipielago… I was always eager to see the next season.
One of the things I missed the most after moving to Dublin was going to see the cherry blossoms in Kungsträdgården, in central Stockholm. Every year in late April, the 63 cherry trees of the park blossom and create two parallel beautiful tunels of pink flowers at each side of the fountain of Wolodarski. It was quite a sight to behold! And it was the definite sign of the beginning of spring and one of my favourite moments every year in Sweden.
It wasn’t until a few months ago that I discovered something similar here in Dublin. A few weeks ago I showed you some early signs of the Irish spring in Dublin (Early Spring). For those photos, I went to Herbert Park, a public park not far from where I live, not very turistic, where I can spend a lot of time taking photos of flowers and some animals and where I don’t have to wait for tourists to pass by.  Doing a bit of research about the park I saw some old photos of the park with cherry trees in blossom, so I waited until they were in bloom. Although some of the old and biggest cherry trees of the park have been cut down recently, the wait was totally worth it. The park has these days a beautiful promenade with a white and pink canopy. And I could photograph a few more spring surprises… 🙂
