When my husband told me a few weeks ago that he had to go to New York for work I couldn’t resist the temptation to visit again the city. The first time I went there was two years ago and I didn’t have much idea of how to use my camera (you can see a few photos of that trip in the first post I published). Since that time, I always hoped I could return to New York again and retake a few of the photos that I made during that first trip to the “Big Apple”.
So I have spent this last week in New York. Seven days wandering around the carismathic neighborghoods of this amazing city, revisiting its landmarks and discovering new beautiful places, getting to know its streets and squares… I had such an incredible time there!! Maybe this time the skycrappers didn’t look so huge as the first time, but I have more time to look at the small details of its architecture and enjoy the contrast between the different buildings and areas. And I could experience a bit more the incredible fast and busy life of this city.
I also enjoyed to experience another season in New York. Two years ago I visited the city in June. It was sunny, hot and very humid, and it was difficult to walk long distances with those high temperatures and the sticky air. This time I could see the city during the best days of spring: the streets and parks were full of cherry blosoms and flowers and all the trees had this gorgeous bright green of the new leafs.
The first days I explored the areas of Midtown, Chelsea, Morningside Heights, Upper West Side, Central Park and Brooklyn. Here are some of the photos I took there. I hope you like them!

  1. Great images of NYC Mercedes. I lived in the Bronx when I was a kid and it was so different from Manhattan. I still have family living in Long Island.

    • Thanks, Anne!!! So glad you like them!! I started with the photos from the first two days I stayed there, so I’ll post a few more in the next weeks…
I’ve never been in the Bronx yet… Maybe in my next visit I’ll go there to visit the Botanical gardens, I’ve heard it’s a beautiful place!!
I found Manhattan and Brooklyn very different too!! So I imagine the Bronx is like a totally different city too!
I love NY but I think I would be able to live there for a long time…. I’m loving the calm and quiet life in Zurich so far… it’s totally the opposite!!! 🙂
      Have a great weekend, Anne!

      • I moved to California when I was 15 in 1953. The Bronx was okay then. We lived in a tenement near the Bronx Zoo. I used to walk there and knew the zoo. Well. About 15 years after I moved, I was visiting my family in Queens. My uncle took me to the Bronx and the street where I lived, and it looked like it had been bombed. Now my family lives in Long Island, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. And, we have a west coast group too. I guess I’m saying, don’t bother with the Bronx! Looking forward to the rest of your Manhattan images.

  2. Gorgeous pictures – the cherry blossom especially. Who could resist a trip to NYC!!

    • Thanks, Joy!! I was so lucky to be there for the last days of the cherry blossom season… A pity it’s gone already!!
And yes, who could say no to NY!!! 🙂
      Have a nice weekend!!!
