I’ve never been in a place like this one. Landmannalaugar is the most unusual and beautiful land I’ve ever seen. It’s located in the Icelandic Highlands, in a place so innaccesible that you can only reach it with a big 4×4 or special vehicles able to cross rivers and gravel roads in the mountains.
Landmannalaugar is a small area inside the Fjallabak Nature Reserve. It was formed by the intense volcanic activity in the area, which created a rich landscape full of volcanoes, mountains, rivers, lakes, valleys, lava fields and geothermal hot springs.
When you are in Landmannalaugar, you feel like if you were in a cartoon or in an extremely photoshopped image full of colours and contrasts. The land is of every imaginable colour: red, yellow, pink, green, blue, purple, gray, black… You walk around lava formations that look like trolls, active volcanoes, ice and smoky fumaroles… In conclusion, a mindblowing place!!
