I’m Mercedes, Spanish traveler and amateur photographer currently based in Zurich. I’ve always loved photography, but after two years living in Sweden I’ve developed a love for capturing with my camera the beauty of nature and the cities I explore. Now I enjoy photographing the outdoors, whether that’s here in Switzerland or around the world.

Lanzarote. Part II Across our two journeys to Lanzarote, few locations captivated my lens quite like the Salinas de Janubio. Situated along the island’s southwestern edge in the municipality of Yaiza, these salt flats were established around 1895 within a dramatic natural basin formed by the volcanic eruptions of 1730. Lava flows sculpted a sweeping lagoon roughly a kilometer in circumference, creating a vast natural amphitheater where sea water—channeled historically by windmills and now powered by modern pumps—slowly evaporates under the island sun.... https://www.mercedescatalan.com/2026/08/25/lanzarote-part-ii/

And just like that, winter is gone... days are longer, temperature is rising and I am already thinking about warmer days by the beach, hiking in the mountains, wearing lighter clothes and enjoying the summer with my kids... It was beginning of 2022. Right after Christmas, I had the opportunity to go on behalf of Lodestars Anthology to Santiago de Compostela.
